Iron Hold
The Iron Hold, located in the Plane of Discord, is a formidable fortress that serves as both Zedrus's divine realm and his prison. The fortress is an imposing structure, built from black stone that seems to absorb light and radiate a sense of dread and foreboding. Its walls are thick and impenetrable, with towers at each corner that rise up into the dark, stormy sky.
The Iron Hold is surrounded by a moat filled with acid, preventing any attempts at infiltration or escape. The moat is patrolled by ferocious beasts, creatures spawned from the nightmares of Phudros, God of Nightmares, ensuring that no one can cross it without facing deadly consequences.
Once inside the Iron Hold, the true nature of Zedrus's prison becomes apparent. The interior of the fortress is a labyrinthine maze of twisting corridors and winding staircases, designed to disorient and confuse any intruders. The walls are lined with torture devices, and the air is thick with the scent of pain and suffering.
Zedrus's prison is located at the heart of the fortress, a chamber crafted from the same black stone as the rest of the Iron Hold. The chamber is circular, with a towering spire at its center that seems to stretch up into infinity. The walls of the chamber are adorned with chains, hooks, and other implements of torture, a reminder of Zedrus's past crimes and his current punishment.
At the base of the spire lies Zedrus's prison, a massive iron cage that seems to pulsate with a dark, malevolent energy. The cage is suspended in the air, held aloft by some unknown force, and the only entrance is a trapdoor in the ceiling. Zedrus is imprisoned within the cage, his powers diminished by the divine magic that holds him captive.
The Iron Hold is an imposing and formidable prison, a testament to the power of the gods who created it and the danger posed by Zedrus. The fortress is a place of darkness and suffering, where the screams of the tortured echo through the halls and the stench of death hangs heavy in the air.
Geography¶
The Iron Hold is located on the Plane of Discord, a bleak and inhospitable realm characterized by jagged mountains, churning seas, and endless plains of ashen soil. The surrounding region is a desolate wasteland, where the winds howl constantly and few living creatures can survive.
The Iron Hold itself is situated atop a towering mountain, surrounded by steep cliffs and jagged rocks. The fortress is constructed of a dark, iron-like metal that seems to absorb all light that touches it, giving the structure an eerie, otherworldly appearance.
The walls of the Iron Hold are incredibly thick and strong, and its gates are reinforced with heavy bars and chains. The fortress is divided into several levels, each accessible only by narrow staircases and guarded by powerful traps and enchantments.
At the heart of the Iron Hold lies Zedrus's prison, a dark and foreboding chamber deep within the fortress. The chamber is surrounded by a powerful force field that prevents escape, and is further guarded by powerful wards and traps that deter even the bravest intruders.
Despite its harsh and unforgiving environment, the region surrounding the Iron Hold is not entirely devoid of life. Strange, twisted creatures roam the wasteland, preying on unwary travelers and scavenging for whatever scraps they can find. The skies are patrolled by fearsome, dragon-like creatures, whose scales seem to shimmer with dark magic.
Few dare to venture into the region around the Iron Hold, and those who do rarely return. The fortress and its surrounding wastes are a place of fear and dread, a testament to the dark power of Zedrus and the consequences of defying the will of the gods.
Ecosystem¶
The Iron Hold is not a natural environment, but rather an artificial construct created by the gods as a prison for Zedrus. As such, there is no natural ecosystem present within the Hold itself. The prison is made of cold iron and stone, with no living plants or animals to speak of. The only inhabitants are those who broke the rules of Fortunia and were ejected from that divine realm by Atdite, and of course, Zedrus.
Localized Phenomena¶
There are localized supernatural phenomena within the Iron Hold, primarily due to Zedrus's presence and influence. As a deity with control over pain and suffering, Zedrus's aura permeates the prison, causing those within its walls to experience constant torment and anguish. The very air is thick with the energies of suffering and despair, making it an oppressive and unsettling place to be.
In addition to Zedrus's influence, there may also be residual energies from the rulebreakers of Fortunia who are deposited into the Iron Hold. These individuals may have brought with them unique curses or magical afflictions, which could manifest as localized supernatural phenomena. It is also possible that the gods who created the Iron Hold imbued it with their own divine energies, adding to the supernatural atmosphere of the prison.
History¶
The history of the Iron Hold is closely intertwined with the story of Zedrus, the God of Torture. Zedrus was born from the negative emotions of the people of Andórë, a product of their despair, anger, and hatred. He sought to dominate others through force and pain, but his cruelty and sadism ultimately led to his downfall. The other gods, horrified by his actions, imprisoned him in the Iron Hold on the Plane of Discord, where he remained forever more.
The Iron Hold was not always a prison, however. Prior to Zedrus's confinement, the Plane of Discord was a lawless and chaotic realm, home to all manner of malevolent entities and dark powers. The gods of Andórë recognized the need for a place to contain those who would threaten the balance of the universe, and thus the Iron Hold was created.
The Iron Hold was constructed with the combined efforts of several gods, each contributing their unique skills and powers to its creation. Idtix, the Goddess of Duty and master of the forge, crafted the chains that bind Zedrus to his cell. Vizotl, the God of Light and purifying flames, imbued the walls of the cell with his divine fire, ensuring that Zedrus would never escape.
Since its creation, the Iron Hold has served as both a prison and a symbol of the consequences of defiance against the gods. Those who break the rules of Fortunia are sent to the Iron Hold as punishment, where they must endure the torment and suffering that Zedrus represents. The Hold serves as a reminder to all who would seek to defy the gods that there are consequences for their actions.
Over the ages, the Iron Hold has become a place of legend and fear, its name whispered in hushed tones by those who dare to speak of it. Some say that the Hold itself has become imbued with the malevolent energies of its captive, and that those who enter its walls are forever marked by its influence. But one thing is certain: the Iron Hold remains an enduring symbol of the power and authority of the gods of Andórë, and a warning to all who would challenge their rule.
