Appearance¶
Physical Description¶
Alar is a lean triton standing 172 cm (5'8") tall.
He has rich azure skin, light brown eyes, and short, curly seaweed-green hair that has already faded to almost entirely white despite his relatively young age.
There is a perpetual weariness about him. He often appears tired, disheveled, and slightly unsteady, as though he has not slept properly in years.
Clothing and Equipment¶
Alar dresses plainly and with little concern for his appearance. His clothing is often wrinkled or untidy, and there is frequently the lingering smell of alcohol about him.
When not at work, he rarely bothers to present himself neatly.
Relationships¶
Bultyn Gehlalnath¶
Alar harbors a crush on Bultyn, though he has never acted upon it.
His shyness and low opinion of himself make him reluctant to pursue romantic relationships.
Duzus Calafin-LightHair¶
A fellow shipbuilder, housemate, and member of the Covenant of the Last Dawn.
Alar looked to Duzus for guidance and seemed to defer to his judgment during meetings.
Whulehyn Rviaath¶
Another housemate and co-conspirator.
Though they shared the same beliefs, both appeared deeply uncomfortable with the consequences of their actions.
Friends and Rivals¶
Despite his withdrawn nature, Alar maintains several friendships throughout Agrovionimb.
He also possesses a long-standing business rivalry with Cora Appledale and an unspoken romantic rivalry with Cirnis Corviaeth.
Personality¶
Alar is intensely shy and prefers solitude.
He struggles to adapt to new ideas and often finds comfort in familiar routines, even when those routines are unhealthy.
He is extremely untidy and rarely plans ahead, frequently leaving problems for his future self to solve.
Though not overtly cruel, he can be disagreeable and occasionally insulting, particularly when he feels threatened or embarrassed.
Beneath this rough exterior lies a deeply unhappy individual.
Alar is emotionally unstable and frequently struggles with feelings of sadness and hopelessness. He drinks heavily and often appears to have little regard for his own well-being.
He follows local events and current affairs closely and is often surprisingly well-informed about what is happening in the city.

Ironically, his interest in the state of the city may have contributed to his growing despair about the future of Agrovionimb.
Alcohol¶
Alar is almost always drunk.
Whether this is a cause of his unhappiness or an attempt to cope with it is difficult to determine.
History¶
Born and raised in Agrovionimb, Alar became a shipbuilder at the Superior Shipyard and eventually took up residence in the Twinkling Flats alongside several other shipbuilders.
At some point in his adult life, he became increasingly convinced that the world beyond Agrovionimb was truly dead and that the city's hope for renewal was a lie.
Through one of the Pagoda of Ara's faith discussion groups, he came into contact with the Covenant of the Last Dawn and was eventually recruited into the organization.
Though he accepted the Covenant's beliefs, he never appeared entirely comfortable with their methods.
During a meeting following Durgat Stormbringer's arrest, Alar was visibly nervous and repeatedly expressed concern that investigators had discovered the abyssal markings aboard the Dawn Seeker.
The following day he was confronted by Venathrax and Xam outside the city.
The mere mention of demons caused him to panic and attempt to flee. He was quickly apprehended and brought before Kuserlion Faewen-FairyMaiden for questioning.
Under magical compulsion, Alar finally revealed the true purpose of the conspiracy:
"We were trying to create a beacon on the ship so the demons would come back and destroy the island."
With that confession, the existence of the Covenant of the Last Dawn was exposed.
