Basic Information

  • Species: Gnome
  • Occupation: Shipbuilder
  • Workplace: Superior Shipyard
  • Residence: Agrovionimb, The Sivmil Residence

Appearance

Physical Description

Brodon is a middle-aged gnome with a broad frame and the compact musculature common among lifelong laborers. Their chestnut hair has begun to gray around the temples and is usually tied back in a loose braid while working.

Their hands are heavily calloused and marked by numerous small scars from decades spent cutting timber, driving pegs, and working with rope and pitch.

Since Nelldove's death, Brodon appears noticeably exhausted. Their eyes are bloodshot from lack of sleep, and their clothes are often wrinkled and stained, as though they have paid little attention to themselves in recent days.

Clothing and Equipment

Brodon dresses in practical shipyard clothing: sturdy boots, heavy trousers, and a thick leather work apron with numerous pockets for tools and measuring instruments.

They carry a folding ruler and a small carving knife, and are rarely seen without a pouch of chalk and marking pegs hanging from their belt.

Relationships

Nelldove Sivmil

Brodon's older sibling and closest confidant.

The two spent decades working together at the Superior Shipyard and understood each other's habits better than anyone else in the city. Although they argued frequently over technical matters and minor details of craftsmanship, Brodon trusted Nelldove completely.

It is precisely because of this trust that Brodon cannot accept the official explanation for Nelldove's death.

Kipnottin Murnwarrgar

Brodon's sister and overseer of the Superior Shipyard. The two have a cordial relationship, though recent events have strained it. Kipnottin has accepted the Tidewardens' ruling, while Brodon continues to question it.

Friends and Rivals

Brodon maintains friendships among the laborers and merchants of Agrovionimb and is generally regarded as kind, dependable, and easy to work alongside.

Their rivalry with Coraia Appledale is mostly professional and revolves around disagreements concerning prices, suppliers, and construction methods.

Personality

Brodon is patient, thoughtful, and deeply loyal to family and friends.

Unlike Nelldove, who often confronted problems directly, Brodon prefers to listen carefully and consider matters before acting. They are slow to anger and generally avoid conflict.

However, once Brodon becomes convinced that something is wrong, they can be remarkably stubborn.

This quiet determination is what leads them to seek outside help after Nelldove's death.

Though not an investigator by nature, Brodon possesses a strong intuition regarding people and an excellent memory for details. Small inconsistencies trouble them, and they find it difficult to ignore questions left unanswered.

History

Brodon was born into the large Sivmil family and spent most of their life in the shipyards of Agrovionimb.

For decades they worked alongside Nelldove constructing fishing vessels, merchant ships, and expedition craft. The construction of the Dawn Seeker was intended to be the culmination of both their careers.

In the week before Nelldove's death, Brodon noticed their sibling becoming increasingly distracted and agitated. Nelldove repeatedly mentioned that something aboard the Dawn Seeker "didn't look right" but refused to elaborate.

Three nights before the campaign begins, Nelldove returned to the shipyard after dark and never came home.

The Tidewardens ruled the death a workplace accident.

Brodon accepted that such accidents could happen.

What they could not accept was Nelldove's behavior.

Nelldove hated working at night.

She would never have returned to the shipyard alone without a reason.

Unable to prove anything and unwilling to accuse anyone without evidence, Brodon sought out a group of adventurers and asked only one thing of them:

Find out what Nelldove was looking at inside that ship.

In doing so, Brodon unknowingly became the catalyst for uncovering the Covenant of the Last Dawn and the conspiracy surrounding the Dawn Seeker.

Notes

  • One of the first NPCs encountered in the campaign.
  • Acts as the party's initial patron.
  • Their refusal to accept the official explanation of Nelldove's death begins the entire investigation.
  • Deeply values family and personal loyalty.
  • Represents the campaign's central theme: hope often survives because ordinary people refuse to let uncomfortable truths be forgotten.
