Duzus Calafin-LightHair¶
Basic Information¶
Species: Sea Elf
Occupation: Shipbuilder
Workplace: The Superior Shipyard
Residence: The Twinkling Flats, Agrovionimb
Status: Incarcerated
Appearance¶
Physical Description¶
Duzus is a tall, thin sea elf standing 178 cm (5'10") in height.
He has light pale silver-green skin, silver eyes, and very long blue-green hair that he keeps meticulously maintained despite its somewhat wiry texture.
Unlike most sea Elves, his ears are relatively short.
He possesses a bony build and carries himself with quiet confidence and poise.
Clothing and Equipment¶
Duzus dresses neatly and practically, favoring well-maintained work clothes and simple robes when away from the shipyard.
He often carries small tools or pieces of colored glass in his pockets.
Personality¶
Duzus enjoys being involved in conversations and is comfortable taking a central role in discussions.
He is exceptionally closed-minded and rarely changes his opinions once they are formed.
He is conscientious, prepared, and tends to think through problems before acting.
Duzus is deeply distrustful of others and possesses a profoundly pessimistic view of the world.
Despite this, he is remarkably calm and rarely shows anger or distress.
He has a habit of apologizing for even minor inconveniences.
Interests¶
Glassworking¶
Duzus enjoys working with glass and spends much of his free time creating small decorative objects.
The precision and patience required by the craft appeal to his methodical nature.
Comfort and Stability¶
His stated goal in life is simply to enjoy the comforts he already possesses.
Ironically, this desire ultimately led him to support an ideology that threatened to destroy the only civilization still remaining.
Relationships¶
Belaia Bhovunath¶
Duzus and Belaia have known one another for approximately one hundred and sixty years.
The two appear to share a deep trust and mutual understanding.
During meetings of the shipbuilders' discussion group, Duzus frequently deferred to Belaia's philosophical conclusions while handling more practical concerns.
Alar Nughelath¶
Duzus shared a home and workplace with Alar.
Alar appeared to look to Duzus for guidance and reassurance during the group's meetings.
Whulehyn Rviaath¶
Duzus was considerably less emotional than Whulehyn regarding the death of Nelldove and the possible collapse of the conspiracy.
His calmness often stood in stark contrast to her anxiety.
The Covenant of the Last Dawn¶
Duzus was one of the principal members of the shipbuilder cell within the Covenant of the Last Dawn.
During secret meetings, he demonstrated considerable knowledge of the ritual being constructed aboard the Dawn Seeker, particularly its geometric aspects.
When investigators discovered several of the abyssal symbols, Duzus remained composed and noted that they still did not understand "the geometry" of the ritual.
His comments suggest that he possessed a deeper understanding of the ritual than many of the other participants.
History¶
Born and raised in Agrovionimb, Duzus eventually became a shipbuilder at the Superior Shipyard and took up residence in the Twinkling Flats.
At some point during his long life, he became convinced that the world beyond Agrovionimb was irretrievably dead and that the city's continued hope was a dangerous delusion.
Through his long friendship with Belaia Bhovunath, he became involved in her support group and eventually joined the Covenant of the Last Dawn.
By the time investigators uncovered the conspiracy, Duzus had become one of the most knowledgeable members of the shipbuilder cell.
During the group's final meeting before their arrests, he displayed little concern for the accidental death of Nelldove Sivmil and focused instead on the practical implications of Durgat's arrest and the investigators' discovery of the abyssal markings.
When Whulehyn worried that the investigators would continue digging, Duzus remained calm and concentrated on what information the authorities did and did not possess.
Unlike Alar and Whulehyn, he never appeared frightened.
He appeared resigned.
Perhaps even certain.
Following the exposure of the Covenant of the Last Dawn, Duzus was arrested alongside the other conspirators and later pleaded guilty.
