Basic Information

Species: Sea Elf
Occupation: Cleric of the Pagoda of Ara
Residence: The Bhovunath Residence, Agrovionimb
Status: Incarcerated

Appearance

Physical Description

Belaia is a lean sea elf standing 162 cm (5'4") tall.

She possesses deep green skin marked by irregular brown stripes, giving her the appearance of seaweed drifting through dark water.

Her black hair is long and limp, usually hanging loose around her shoulders.

Her eyes are entirely white, lacking visible pupils and giving her an unnerving, almost statuesque appearance.

Like most sea Elves, she has long pointed ears, though hers seem slightly more pronounced than average.

Her expression is nearly always calm and composed, making it difficult to discern her emotions.

Clothing and Equipment

Belaia typically wears the simple robes of a temple cleric, favoring practical clothing over ornamentation.

She often carries books, notes, and writing materials and can frequently be found researching one subject or another within the temple.

Personality

Belaia is deeply introverted and rarely seeks attention for herself.

She prefers small gatherings and private conversations to public speaking, despite her role as leader of several faith discussion groups.

She dislikes change and often struggles to understand unfamiliar ideas or approaches.

Although she can act impulsively and occasionally fails to prepare for consequences, she possesses a remarkable inner calm and is rarely shaken by events that would disturb others.

She is slightly empathetic and genuinely cares about the suffering of those around her.

She speaks with a noticeable lisp.

Interests

Cooking

Belaia enjoys cooking and often prepares food for friends and members of her discussion groups.

Even during the Covenant's darkest days, she continued bringing baked goods and meals to those who were struggling.

Research and Technology

She has a fascination with old technologies and forgotten knowledge and enjoys experimenting with devices and techniques that have fallen out of common use.

This interest likely contributed to her close association with shipbuilders and artisans.

Relationships

Paeoandal Nimphir-WhiteSky

Belaia is engaged to Paeoandal Nimphir-WhiteSky, another sea elf cleric.

The pair share an unusual relationship in that they are both lovers and rivals, each constantly trying to outdo the other in matters of scholarship and achievement.

Despite their rivalry, the two clearly care for one another.

Paeoandal was present when Wrenn's infiltration of their home abruptly ended with a flattened spider and a very surprised gnome.

Durgat Stormbringer

Though separated by age, species, and station, Belaia cared deeply for Durgat.

She organized the support group attended by the shipbuilders and visited Durgat in prison, reassuring her that she did not bear the burden of the Covenant's work alone.

The Witnesses

Belaia served as one of the eight Witnesses beneath Araroris Calaarauth. She appears to have functioned as a coordinator between the Covenant's leadership and the dockworker cell that carried out the ritual aboard the Dawn Seeker.

History

Belaia spent most of her life serving at the Pagoda of Ara, where she became known for leading small discussion groups and offering emotional support to laborers and working families.

One of these groups eventually became the recruitment ground for the dockworker cell responsible for the abyssal ritual aboard the Dawn Seeker.

To outsiders, the meetings appeared to be ordinary faith discussions and support sessions.

In reality, they had become places where despair was nurtured and where the philosophy of the Covenant slowly took root.

Belaia sincerely believed that Agrovionimb had mistaken denial for hope and that the world had already ended. She did not speak with hatred or anger but with the quiet certainty of someone who believed she had accepted an unpleasant truth.

When the shipbuilders became frightened and uncertain after Nelldove's death and Durgat's arrest, Belaia remained composed and attempted to keep the group together. She informed the Witnesses of the crisis and continued carrying out her responsibilities even as the conspiracy began to unravel.

She was ultimately arrested alongside the other Witnesses after Wrenn dramatically ended one of their meetings by transforming into a giant spider.

Like the rest of the Covenant's members, she pleaded guilty and never denied her actions.
