Planes of Existence

planes-of-existence.png
The planes of existence are the different dimensions or realms that make up the multiverse. They are each unique in their own way, with their own laws of physics, magic, and inhabitants.

The Material Plane is the plane in which we live our lives, including the world of Andórë.

The Feywild and the Shadowfell are planes that mirror the Material Plane and are linked to it. The Feywild is a realm of beauty, magic, and nature, while the Shadowfell is a dark, shadowy reflection of the Material Plane.

The Transitive Planes, including the Astral Plane and the Ethereal Plane, serve as conduits for travel between different planes of existence.

The Inner Planes are the four Elemental Planes, as well as the Elemental Chaos that surrounds them. Each of the Elemental Planes is dominated by one of the four classical elements: air, earth, fire, or water.

The Outer Planes are the realms of the gods and other powerful entities. These planes are where the deities reside and where souls go after death.

Finally, the Positive and Negative Planes are the planes that embody the forces of life and death. The Positive Plane is the source of life and healing magic, while the Negative Plane is the source of death and necrotic magic.

The Mirror Planes

Elenrath, the Feywild, is a realm of magic, beauty, and wonder. It is a world of enchanted forests, meadows, and gardens, inhabited by fairies, unicorns, and other mystical creatures.

Nethrendor, the Shadowfel, is a dark and eerie reflection of the Material Plane. It is a world of perpetual darkness, where the sun never shines, and the shadows reign supreme. The plane is home to undead creatures, shadow dragons, and other shadowy beings.

The Inner Planes

Terellaeth, the Elemental Plane of Earth, is a vast expanse of caverns, tunnels, and underground landscapes, where the rock, soil, and mineral reign supreme. The plane is home to numerous creatures made of earth and stone, from elementals to earth dragons.

Pyrothyr, the Elemental Plane of Fire, is a world of heat, flames, and destruction. Its skies are filled with fiery storms, and its surface is littered with volcanoes, geysers, and lakes of molten lava. The plane is inhabited by creatures immune to flames and extreme heat, such as fire giants and salamanders.

Vayalindor, the Elemental Plane of Air, is a boundless expanse of swirling winds, endless clouds, and floating islands. It is the home of the djinn, air elementals, and other creatures that call the skies their domain.

Merithalas, the Elemental Plane of Water, is a world of endless oceans, undersea valleys, and coral reefs. It is the home of aquatic creatures, such as merfolk, sea serpents, and krakens. The plane's depths hide many secrets and treasures, and only the bravest adventurers dare to explore them.

The Outer Planes

Realms of the Gods

The outer planes of Andórë are a labyrinth of vast and diverse realms, each ruled by a different god or group of gods. These planes are brimming with powerful beings, both divine and mortal, and are often the stage for incredible battles and epic adventures. As a wizard, I find the outer planes to be endlessly fascinating, as they hold many secrets and wonders waiting to be uncovered. Whether one seeks to forge alliances with the gods or topple them from their thrones, the outer planes offer endless possibilities for those who dare to venture beyond the Material Plane.

The Gods of Andórëan Pantheon maintain divine realms in the outer planes. They are:

Plane of Dreams

Oneirothir, is a fascinating realm that exists beyond the material world, accessible only through the unconscious mind. It is said to be the source of all dreams, both good and bad, and is home to a variety of otherworldly creatures that often feature in these dreams.

As a wizard of the scribe order, I have had the opportunity to study the The Plane of Dreams extensively. It is a realm of ever-shifting landscapes, where the boundaries between dream and reality are blurred. Strange creatures and beings that defy description roam the landscape, and the laws of physics as we know them do not always apply.

Some believe that the Plane of Dreams is a reflection of the collective unconsciousness of all sentient beings, while others speculate that it is a separate plane of existence altogether. Regardless of its origins, it is a place of great mystery and wonder.

For those who are skilled enough to navigate the Plane of Dreams, it can be a valuable resource for knowledge and power. However, one must be cautious, as the realm is also home to dangerous entities and malevolent forces that seek to ensnare and manipulate those who venture into their domain.

The Infinite Abyss

The Abyss is a dark and twisted place, embodying all that is chaotic and perverse. Its many layers spiral down into increasingly horrific forms, each ruled by a demon lord with their own unique environment. However, all layers of the Abyss are harsh and inhospitable, with a decaying and corroded appearance.

For example, the Gaping Maw is Demogorgon's layer in the Abyss, a wilderness of brutality and horror that instills fear even in powerful demons. Thanatos is Orcus's dead realm, where all creatures would become undead under his control. Baphomet's layer, the Endless Maze, is a never-ending dungeon with a confusing jumble of crooked hallways and chambers. Finally, Yeenoghu's Death Dells are ravines where creatures must hunt to survive and even the plants snare the unwary.

These layers reflect the entropic nature of the Abyss, with each reflecting the demon lord who rules over it. Those who venture to these layers do so at their own peril, as the harsh environments and powerful beings that reside there pose a grave danger to any who dare to enter.

Demonology

As a wizard, I have studied the planes of existence and their denizens extensively, including the study of demonology. Demonology is the field of magic that deals with the study of demons, their nature, origins, and powers. Demons are creatures of the Abyss, chaotic and evil beings that seek to spread destruction and chaos throughout the multiverse.

To understand the demons, it is necessary to study the Abyss, their plane of origin. The Abyss is a vast and twisted realm, filled with countless layers and ruled by powerful demon lords. Each layer of the Abyss is unique and reflects the personality and power of its ruler.

To study demonology, one must first understand the different types of demons and their abilities. There are many types of demons, ranging from the lowly dretch to the powerful balor. Each type of demon has its own strengths and weaknesses, as well as unique abilities that can be exploited or defended against.

Another important aspect of demonology is the study of demon summoning and binding. Summoning demons can be a dangerous and risky practice, as demons are notoriously unpredictable and can turn on their summoners at any moment. Binding demons, on the other hand, can be a useful tool for those who seek to harness their powers for their own purposes.

In addition to the practical aspects of demonology, there is also a rich history and mythology surrounding demons. Many cultures and religions have their own beliefs and stories about demons, and studying these can provide insight into the nature and motivations of these malevolent beings.

DM Note: This cosmology is different than in standard D&D worlds. Deal with it.
