Plane of Transcendence
The Plane of Transcendence is a mysterious and ethereal realm that exists beyond the mortal plane. It is a place of great power and significance where the souls of the dead go to be judged and find their ultimate resting place.
The plane itself is vast and seemingly endless, a swirling and shifting expanse of color and energy that defies mortal comprehension. It is said that the plane is composed of pure thought and raw magic, with the boundaries between reality and the divine blurred and indistinct.
There are two primary realms within the Plane of Transcendence: the Halls of the Afterlife and the Underworld. The Halls of the Afterlife are a series of interconnected realms that are divided and broken into different sections for each of the forty gods of the pantheon. Here, the souls of the faithful who lived in accordance with the tenets of a god or gods find their eternal rest. The Halls are a place of order and serenity, filled with lush gardens, sparkling fountains, and an abundance of food and drink.
The Underworld, on the other hand, is a dark and foreboding realm reserved for the souls of those who paid false fealty to the gods or who feigned faith for personal gain. It is a place of torment and suffering, where the souls of the faithless are punished for their transgressions against the divine. The Underworld is a maze-like realm filled with twisting tunnels and caverns, where the souls of the damned are forced to wander for all eternity.
Churuer, the God of the Afterlife, maintains a citadel within the Plane of Transcendence that can be accessed by the faithful and that spirits must pass through to be judged, the Hall of Final Judgment. The Hall of Final Judgment is a towering and imposing structure that seems to stretch up to the very heavens, with walls of gleaming white stone and banners of gold and silver fluttering in the breeze. It is said that within the walls of the citadel, Churuer sits in judgment of the souls of the dead, weighing their deeds and their hearts to determine their ultimate fate.
Geography¶
As the Plane of Transcendence is composed of pure thought and raw magic, the concept of traditional geology and ecosystems as mortals know it does not apply here. Instead, the landscape outside of the divine realms is a constantly shifting and morphing expanse of energy and colors, with streams of magic flowing like rivers and glowing orbs of light pulsing like stars in the sky.
There are no traditional ecosystems or natural resources in this area, as the very fabric of the plane is suffused with the raw energy of creation and transcendence. Instead, it is a place of pure potential and possibility, where the boundaries of reality are blurred and the laws of physics and nature are fluid and malleable.
As such, the Plane of Transcendence is a place of great wonder and mystery, filled with infinite possibilities and potentialities. It is a realm of pure magic and raw energy, where the impossible becomes possible and the boundaries of mortal comprehension are pushed to their limits.
Localized Phenomena¶
The wild spaces of the Plane of Transcendence are filled with supernatural phenomena that defy explanation. Here are a few examples:
- Fluctuations in the fabric of reality: The very nature of the plane makes reality unstable, and in some areas, the fabric of reality seems to fluctuate like a wave. This can cause strange distortions in space and time, making it difficult to navigate.
- Living spells: In some areas, spells and magical energy take on a life of their own, becoming sentient and independent entities. These living spells can be both helpful and dangerous, depending on their nature and temperament.
- Otherworldly creatures: The wild spaces of the plane are home to a wide variety of otherworldly creatures, from bizarre and alien beasts to spirits and elementals that defy mortal understanding.
- Ghostly apparitions: The plane is also home to many restless spirits, wandering the wilds in search of closure or redemption. These ghostly apparitions can appear suddenly and without warning, and they are not always friendly.
- Divine manifestations: In rare instances, the gods themselves may manifest within the wild spaces of the plane, bringing their divine power to bear on mortal affairs or simply observing the world they created. These manifestations can be awe-inspiring and terrifying, and they often have profound effects on the natural world.
Fauna & Flora¶
In the wild spaces of the Plane of Transcendence, the flora and fauna are unlike anything found in the mortal realm. The plants are vibrant and colorful, glowing with an inner light that seems to pulse with the rhythms of the universe. Some of the flowers are as large as trees, their petals stretching out like delicate fingers towards the sky. Others are tiny and delicate, their fragrant blooms hovering above the ground on thin stalks.
The fauna is equally strange and wondrous. There are creatures that walk on two legs and others that slither on the ground like serpents. Some fly through the air on iridescent wings, while others burrow deep beneath the ground. Many of these creatures are intelligent and possess a deep understanding of the magic and mysteries of the universe.
One such creature is the Luminescent Wyrm, a massive serpent-like creature that glows with an inner light. Its scales shimmer and pulse with colors that change with its mood, and its eyes seem to hold the secrets of the cosmos within them. The Wyrm is revered by many of the denizens of the Plane of Transcendence as a symbol of enlightenment and wisdom.
Another creature that roams the wild spaces is the Stardust Unicorn, a majestic beast that glitters with stardust and radiates a sense of calm and serenity. Its coat shimmers with the light of a thousand stars, and its mane and tail trail behind it like trails of stardust. The Stardust Unicorn is said to be a protector of the wild spaces, watching over the delicate balance of the ecosystem and ensuring that all creatures within it are treated with respect and harmony.
