The Interrogation Continues

Starweaver's Reckoning Third Day, 12th of Palesun, 1137 AoD

The interrogation of Durgat Stormbringer continued, though even under magical influence she remained evasive regarding the true meaning of the demonic symbols.

With no further answers forthcoming, we escorted Durgat back to Kuserlion Faewen-FairyMaiden for further questioning.

At one point, Kuserlion excused him and rang for another Tide Warden, a blue-haired gnome named Lilwyn Warrtur.

Visiting Durgat's Home

Our investigation next led us to The Twinkling Flats, where Durgat lived with her fiancé, Zlog Bonegrinder.

Anchor explained the situation and requested permission to search the residence.

During the search, we discovered a magical ring resting on a vanity in the room belonging to Durgat's daughter. Venathrax examined the item and determined it to be a Ring of Water Breathing.

According to Zlog, the ring had been gifted to their daughter by the temple after she nearly drowned while playing in the ocean.

We also learned several details about the family:
- Zlog Bonegrinder had once worked as a general laborer before becoming a stay-at-home father.
- He did not recognize any of the demonic symbols we showed him.
- Durgat attended a weekly prayer group.
- Several shipwrights, including Alar Nughelath and Duzus Calafin-LightHair, frequently worked late into the night.

With little more to learn, we retired for the evening and took a long rest.

Investigating the Prayer Group

Starweaver's Reckoning Fourth Day, 13th of Palesun, 1137 AoD

The following morning, we visited the temple.

There we met Asnyn Galalynith and learned more about the weekly group attended by Durgat. The meetings are led by Belaia Bhovunath, a 231-year-old sea elf cleric.

The group consists of five members:
- Belaia Bhovunath – Sea Elf Cleric and group leader.
- Duzus Calafin-LightHair – 186-year-old male sea elf shipbuilder.
- Whulehyn Rviaath – 39-year-old female triton shipbuilder.
- Alar Nughelath – 35-year-old male triton shipbuilder.
- Durgat Stormbringer – 25-year-old female orc shipbuilder.

Pethi spoke privately with Belaia and learned that the gathering was less a religious congregation and more of a therapy and support group.

Belaia also revealed that she has known Duzus for approximately one hundred and sixty years.

The group's next meeting is scheduled for tonight at eight o'clock.

Research in the Hidden Library

While the others pursued leads at the temple, Kanaeda, Anchor, and Corq returned to the hidden library beneath the Settlement Hall.

For two hours they searched through forbidden texts on demonology and ancient lore.

They discovered nothing new.

Note Taker's Recap

The confessed manslaughter of Durgat is taken to the Tidewarden jails and the party heads to her flat to investigate further. The apartment houses several others who are gathered in the common room. Both the partner and daughter of Durgat are questioned and we learn she goes to a pray group weekly at the temple and goes out late with other shipbuilders.

The next morning the party splits several head to the hidden library and consult the demonic texts to learn more about the symbols. Pethi speaks to the temple administrator and finds out the names of everyone in the prayer group as well as Sister Belaia Bhovunath, the one who leads the group. Pethi even tracks down Belaia for some slight probing conversation of what the group discusses. The group's next meeting is scheduled for tonight and all the group members are shipbuilders and a couple of them even lived in the same apartment as Durgat and were present in the common room when we were searching the rooms.

  • Pethi seeked out Belaia and asked about her group, its more of therapy group than religious.

9:48 AM Kanaeda: After our harrowing interrogation of the shipwright, I would recommend to the group that we place her in the custody of the Tidewardens or perhaps even the Council itself if they have a means of holding her for further questioning. I would very much like to go to her home and search it and report our findings to the Councilman and the brother gnome (I'm forgetting names and can't open Foundry to look). That said, I'd quietly pull Corq aside by the arm away from the others and assure him:

"We weren't really going to maim that poor woman, you understand that, right? Those were
threats, bluffs, just to scare her ... to get to the truth."

11:39 AM Dungeon Master: Once Wrenn arrives with Kuserlion, he would insist on Durgat be taken into Tidewarden custody, though you will still have full access to her for any questioning you require.

5:51 PM Venathrax: Before Kuserlion and/or the Tidewardens arrive, Venathrax would like to make another attempt to use intimidation/deception to get Durgat to open up to us.

6:03 PM Venathrax: "Look, Durgat, we're not the Tidewardens. You know this to be true. We were asked to look into Nelldove's death quietly… If you don't tell us what we need to know, then we'll have no choice but to hand you over to the Tidewardens. There will be a full investigation, they will ransack your home looking for anything they can find, and everyone is going to know you were involved. This is a small island, Durgat. Everyone is going to know. Your daughter is going to know… But, if you cooperate with us, then we can report what we've seen here: that the death of Nelldove Sivmil was just a tragic workplace accident. This can all be over. And you can go home to your daughter. What do you say, Durgat? Will you answer our questions and tell us what we need to know?"

8:35 PM Dungeon Master: Durgat: "I've told you everything there is to tell."

8:53 PM Venathrax: "I know you think those symbols you've been drawing are harmless. But trust me when I tell you that they are extremely dangerous. We need to know where you learned those symbols or who taught them to you. You can either talk to us or you can wait for the Tidewardens to get here."

8:55 PM Dungeon Master: she waits

6:12 PM Pethi Wiselander: Pethi kneels down in front of Durgat, her prayer beads wrapped around her wrist and hands as she reaches out to take the Orc's hand in hers. With a gentle and sympathetic tone she says: "Listen, I am so sorry all this has happened to you. And I apologize for the tone of some of my associates. I know you have a good heart. I've seen you many times at the temple and I can see in your eyes you didn't mean for any of this to happen. I will pray for you and your family and do everything in my power to ensure they are taken care of. I'd be more than happy to take your prayers here and ensure they are heard."
