Divinity, Celestials Fiends
Many D&D settings have a web of creation myths and gods that is long and maddening. Some settings have a single, well ordered Pantheon. Andórë is somewhere in beteween. It has a single, large pantheon of gods, none of which are specific to any races or species.
The Gods of Andórë¶
The gods of Andórë have a fairly passive roll in the day-to-day activities of Andórë. Additionally, there is no direct god of nature. The people of Andórë believe that Nature Is Its Own Force, and doesn't need a divine hand. Like other D&D settings, gods may have always been gods, or they may be ascended mortals. However they got there, no god has ever come down to the world and set foot there, at least not in the lifespan of any of the mortal races of the world.
Also, the gods of Andórë do not have world-shattering plots. Does that mean the gods don't have plots against each other? No, of course not. However, the world is the world, and the gods are separate from it. If a god were to die, their portfolio would be picked up by another and the world would move on.
No person on Andórë has ever personally met a god; at least not while they were still alive.
At this time, The Andórëan Pantheon is missing in action. They are not answering prayers and nobody can feel their presence.
Racial Gods¶
As you can see from this link, there are more than 20 distinct godly pantheons in the Forgotten Realms. There are no individual racial pantheons on Andórë. Elves don't have their own gods here, neither do Dwarves or any other species.
Worship, Temples and Services¶
In most cultures on Andórë temples serve multiple purposes and the largest temples are sprawling complexes. Temples often contain additional buildings that function as houses of healing, and schools, as well as chapels and graveyards.
Temples are nearly always dedicated to the entire pantheon of gods, with smaller rooms off the main worship space dedicated to specific groups of gods, with smaller alcoves or pedestals around the main worship space for other members of the pantheon.
Full structures dedicated to a single god or group of gods is nearly unheard of. Families do maintain small shrines to specific gods in their homes, and you can find small shrines (little more than historical markers on the sides of US highways) dotted around the landscape.
Celestial Beings¶
While the gods do not exist on Andórë itself, there are celestial beings like Unicorns, Sphinxes, or even Angels. They are rare and are usually manifest of some great need, or if summoned by a spellcaster.
Fiends¶
Fiends will be an ever-present threat in Andórë.
Demons¶
There are demons all over the place. The place is lousy with demons. You can't shake a stick without hitting a demon. However in Andórë's current state of separation from the wider multiverse, demons that die on Andórë stay dead. Their bodies no longer dissolve into ichor and their spirits no longer return to the Abyss to reform.
The World Timeline will explain the current demonic presence.
Devils¶
Because there is no connection between Andórë and the outer planes, there are no devils on Andórë and the word "devil" is used interchangeably with "demon." A game master can, however, reserve the right to use any devil stat block they want for opponents.
Planetouched Species¶
On the Origin of Species details more information about the individual species available to players on Andórë. The biggest change is that Teiflings on Andórë are not the result of a deal with a devil.
